Discover Toyama Japanese Restaurant

When it comes to finding the perfect place for authentic Japanese cuisine in San Francisco, Toyama Japanese Restaurant at 3727 Geary Blvd is a top choice that promises a memorable dining experience. Tucked in the Richmond District, this cozy eatery serves up traditional Japanese flavors with a modern touch, making it a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike.

One of the standout features of Toyama is its dedication to using fresh, high-quality ingredients. Whether you’re a fan of sushi, sashimi, or hot dishes, you’ll find something that caters to your taste. The sushi rolls are a fan favorite, particularly the signature creations that fuse unique ingredients. The tuna and avocado roll, for example, combines the freshness of the sea with a creamy texture, making it an unforgettable bite. You can almost taste the careful selection of fish and seasonings that go into each dish.

The atmosphere at Toyama is laid-back yet refined, with friendly staff who are eager to share their knowledge of the menu. It's the kind of place where you can relax after a long day and enjoy a meal without feeling rushed. The space is designed with traditional Japanese elements, giving you that authentic vibe as you enjoy your meal.

If you’re not in the mood for sushi, don’t worry-Toyama has a broad menu that caters to different preferences. Their bento boxes are a great option for those looking for variety in a single meal. The boxes feature a well-rounded combination of rice, tempura, teriyaki, and pickled vegetables, offering a little taste of everything. It's the perfect way to sample multiple items if you're not sure where to start.

For those who enjoy a warm, comforting meal, the restaurant’s noodle dishes are a must-try. The udon noodles, served in a savory broth, are perfect for a chilly San Francisco day. The noodles are thick and chewy, just as they should be, and the broth is rich, full of flavor, and comforting. Pair it with a side of crispy tempura, and you’ve got a meal that’s both filling and satisfying.

Toyama also shines with its attention to detail when it comes to customer service. Each dish is prepared with precision and served with care, ensuring that diners receive a top-tier experience. The servers are knowledgeable and are happy to suggest pairings or share insights into the various dishes if you're not sure what to try.

The restaurant isn’t just about food-it’s about a cultural experience. Many patrons return not just for the food but for the overall atmosphere that brings a touch of Japan to San Francisco. Whether you're a sushi enthusiast or just someone who appreciates a great meal, Toyama Japanese Restaurant offers something special for every palate.

With its inviting ambiance, exceptional food, and attentive service, Toyama is a gem on Geary Boulevard. If you're in the area or planning to visit San Francisco, it’s definitely worth checking out. You might just discover your new favorite Japanese restaurant.

  • An absolute hidden gem in San Francisco. Met work colleagues for dinner which was a bit out of the way from downtown where we were staying but I’m so glad we came out. The service is warm and welcoming and the nigiri, stone crab and speciality rolls were some of the freshest sushi I’ve ever had.

  • The restaurant has has a nice atmosphere, and there's a counter where you can see the chef doing the sushi. I tried the Double tuna roll, which was ok (the garlic stole the favor) and the tuna sashimi - which was the highlight for me, high quality fish. I recommend visiting, I definitely wanna try again more options of their menu.

  • I had the Omakase and a double hamachi roll with a miso soup. All of it was spectacular, and came beautifully presented. The chef asked me about some of the pieces, told me about some of his favorite fish, and was interested in how I felt about the flavors. I loved that, it means a lot to me when someone is that passionate about the food they're serving, it was such a treat.

  • Just moved to SF from SoCal, and in this price range, this is definitely the best sushi I’ve had in my six years of living in California. I’ve actually been pretty disappointed with the overall food quality Californians consider “good,” but this restaurant is one my wife and I genuinely love. The sushi is delicious, consistently fresh, and offered at a great price!

  • Got the omakase here which was very good. And the price was good too for an omakase. The variety was great and service was nice. We also got two rolls the mount Fuji and I think the double hamachi roll. I liked them both, we asked the server for recommendations on the rolls and just ordered what she recommended. The hamachi kama was good too.
